The modern combat environment is dynamic, constantly creating new, more complex challenges for armed forces to overcome. Facing the threats of today, while focusing on tomorrow’s challenges, is crux of the Nammo Group’s success, and the reason for their position as a global leader in defence solutions. Nammo’s dedication to safeguarding the environment, the development of innovative solutions and precise engineering has resulted in a range of specialised technologies. Able to recognise the dangers faced by servicemen in the air, on the ground or at sea, the company has pioneered cutting-edge technology that helps soldiers through any conflict, in any environment.

With over 2,200 experts in 9 countries, Nammo’s experience and intelligence has allowed it to stay ahead of new threats on the modern battlefield. Sharing ideas, building long-lasting relationships and finding solutions to existing and future challenges is part of Nammo’s core structure. With mutually beneficial partnerships throughout the USA, Canada and Europe, the company is seeking to merge technologies, talent and skills with India by offering specific solutions tailored to fit the Indian market, as well as a collaboration between Nammo and Indian defence and security forces that would result in better technologies and overcome current and future challenges.

Nammo’s investments and innovations have led to a range of globally significant technologies. Designed with specific challenges in mind, the state-of-the-art products are the optimum choice for success on the battlefield. Some key products are:

Armour Piercing Ammunition: Employment of armour piercing ammunition ensures that soldiers can defeat oncoming targets, regardless of their armour or protection. Accurate penetration, advanced tungsten carbide technology and a range of calibers from 5.56 mm to 120 mm to choose from, distinguishes this range of ammunition from others on the market.

Dim Trace: Firing rounds during night combat operations has always been of highrisk. Using visible tracer ammunition is no longer an option owing to the increased need for stealth. To adapt to these new scenarios and overcome this challenge, Nammo has developed the Dim Trace technology. Thus, instead of acting as a deterrent, darkness is a shield for troops. The Dim Tracers are invisible to the naked eye, giving soldiers the advantage during stealth scenarios. The mission can continue at peak performance, with units able to maintain target location and observation. Invisible to the naked eye, the Dim Tracers can only be seen through Night Vision Devices (NVD). Instant ignition is available for short combat distances. A reduced muzzle flash and no backwards illumination makes the Dim Trace technology an optimal targeting aid during night combat.

Multipurpose Ammunition: Situations change, but soldiers’ ammunition should not have to. To combat a range of targets across a variety of environments, Nammo has designed this Multipurpose Ammunition. A delay follows the initial impact, ensuring that the round not only penetrates, but delivers its full effect inside the target. The delayed action and deflagration is due to the Multipurpose Ammo’s pyrotechnical ignition train, replacing the traditional mechanical safe-and-arm device. Deflagration creates larger fragments than detonation. A slow build-up of pressure causes the fragmentation pattern to spread out along a 20–30 degree cone from the line of fire. Multipurpose Ammunition has been developed for immediate deployment by all three services, be it armies, navies or air forces, meaning that all units can deploy this specialised product in any situation that arises. The Multipurpose Ammunition is 100% safe and can stand extreme environmental mechanical stress. It creates no hazardous duds.

Plastic Training Ammunition: Training is the backbone of all defence and military operations. Thorough training with realistic conditions can make all the difference between success and failure on the battlefield. Being prepared for all eventualities and a comprehensive knowledge of equipment is vital and is the product of intensive, regular exercises. Training must be cost-effective, safe and cause little damage to equipment. Nammo’s Plastic Training Ammunition overcomes these challenges and is in service with forces around the world. As the first company to introduce Plastic Training Ammunition, Nammo has helped to reinvent the way troops train. Realistic firing is now possible, with low costs, minimal barrel damage and reduced danger areas. Plastic Training Ammunition provides troops with lifelike training and maximum safety at low cost. Plastic Short Range Training Ammunition (available in all calibres, from 4.6 mm to 40 mm) involves low to no ricochet danger; is ballistically matched to live ammunition out to 50 m and allows training for suburban and built-up areas.
