After the Balakot airstrike and dog fight with the Pakistan Air Force in February 2019, the Indian Air Force is in the process of enhancing its operational capability in the short and long term by boosting its woefully outdated missile arsenal.
Objective of this exercise was to “expose” RFASF and IAF pilots to single and multi aircraft missions in a counter terrorism scenario “within a predefined scope and understanding each other’s concept of operations”.
It is no secret that the IAF is in dire straits, both because of its declining fighter aircraft numbers and the government’s refusal to raise the defence budget. The numbers are telling.
Brahmos is the only universal supersonic cruise missile system in the world with the capability of neutralizing land or sea based targets.
