partners with Adani Defence, BEML to make LCH fuselages
HAL on 14 August 2026
said it had entered into partnerships with the Indian industry-Adani Defence
Systems and Technologies Ltd and BEML for manufacturing fuselage structures for
the 'Prachand' Light Combat
Helicopter
(LCH), further expanding India's indigenous
helicopter production
ecosystem. Under the agreements, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and Adani Defence will manufacture
48 and 42 fuselage structures, respectively.
HAL has augmented the capacity and
already commenced production of the 156 Prachand LCHs ordered for the Indian
Armed Forces at its new helicopter manufacturing facility in Tumakuru,
Karnataka, it said. The establishment of two additional production lines will
further enhance overall manufacturing capability for the LCH programme and
support the timely delivery of the helicopters to the Indian Armed Forces.

HAL and Safran
sign contract with SAFHAL
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran
Helicopter Engines have signed a contract with SAFHAL Helicopter Engines Pvt Ltd (SAFHAL) for the
design, development, manufacture, supply and lifecycle support of a new generation
high power helicopter engine in the 3,500 to 4,000 shp power class, named
“Aravalli”. Mr.
Ravi K, CMD, HAL, stated,
“The
signing of this contract marks a significant step forward in India's pursuit of
self-reliance in aero-engine technologies. Through this collaborative programme
with SAFHAL and Safran Helicopter Engines, we are creating a strong foundation
for powering next generation Indian helicopter platforms. The Aravalli engine
programme will not only support the operational requirements of the IMRH and
DBMRH but will also contribute meaningfully to the development of a robust
domestic aerospace industrial ecosystem."


Samtel HAL Display
Systems facility inaugurated
Samtel HAL Display
Systems Limited (SHDS), a joint venture between Samtel Avionics and Hindustan
Aeronautics Limited (HAL), on 27 August 2026, inaugurated its new facility at
Udyog Vihar, Phase IV, Gurugram. The facility was formally opened by Mr. Ravi
K, Chairman & Managing Director of HAL. SHDS was established to address
avionics requirements — including test benches and systems — across HAL's fixed
and rotary wing platforms. The joint venture holds the unique distinction of
being India's first public-private partnership in the defence avionics sector
to indigenously design, qualify and serially produce a multifunction display
(MFD) for induction on a fighter aircraft.

Big
milestone for HAL Koraput
HAL successfully handed over the 1000th Repaired and
Overhauled (ROH) AL-31FP engine to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in June 2026. The
1000th ROH engine was formally handed over by S. A. Kothe, Executive Director,
HAL Koraput, to Air Vice Marshal B. V. N. Shiva, Indian Air Force.
"Despite global geopolitical challenges, HAL Koraput has continuously
strengthened its MRO capabilities, scaling its annual overhaul capacity to over
100 AL-31FP engines. AL-31FP powers the IAF's Su-30MKI fighter fleet”.

Rolls-Royce and HAL’s joint venture
IAMPL
International Aerospace
Manufacturing Private Limited (IAMPL), a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) inaugurated its expanded manufacturing
facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, strengthening advanced aerospace manufacturing
capabilities in India. Spread across 12 acres, the expanded facility will
significantly enhance IAMPL’s capacity for producing “world-class compressor
and turbine components, while also building capabilities for developing complex
and rotating parts for future indigenous and global technology programmes”.

Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), Ministry
of Defence, inaugurated Prachand Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) structure
assembly line and an Automated Storage & Retrieval System (ASRS) at
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's New Helicopter Factory in Tumakuru, Karnataka.
The New Helicopter Facility is a state-of-the-art greenfield facility
established for the production of Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) and Prachand
LCH and will support future programmes such as Indian Multi Role Helicopter
(IMRH) and Deck based Multi Role Helicopter (DBMRH). The Secretary also visited
HAL's dedicated LUH production facility, LCH equipping hangar and ASRS
facility.
